A US number for architects and designers with US clients
US clients and contractors call a familiar +1 number. Reviews go on video with a shared screen; the phone is for quick calls.
Short answer
Architects, interior designers and graphic or UX designers outside the US use a US virtual number so US clients and contractors can call a familiar +1 number. The TripoSIM number rings in an app, takes voicemail and includes 300 minutes a month of calls to the US and Canada. It receives texts but cannot send them.
Why give US clients a US number?
Most design work runs through email, shared files and video calls. The phone matters at the edges: a prospect who wants a quick word before booking a discovery call, a client with one question about a draft, or a contractor on a US site who needs an answer before they can carry on. For them a +1 number is an ordinary call, and it fits on your website, proposals and invoices next to your email.
The TripoSIM US Virtual Number runs in an app on your phone over Wi-Fi or mobile data, next to your local SIM. Calls ring like a normal call. When you are deep in a file or asleep, callers leave a voicemail. This page covers the phone line only, not how you take on or run a project.

Which calls go on the phone, and which on video?

Join video reviews through the meeting link you or the client send. The TripoSIM number is a phone line, not a video tool, so screen-share reviews do not use your minutes. Keep the phone for the short calls that do not need a screen.
Who calls on interior and architecture projects?
A project with a US site brings more people to the phone than a logo or an app design does:
Contractors and installers: a measurement that does not match the drawing, or a finish that is out of stock.
Suppliers and showrooms: lead times, samples and delivery windows.
A partner on the US side: a project manager or a local firm you work with on the site.
Calls you place to them use your minutes; calls they make to you are included up to the fair use. Calls out go to US and Canadian numbers only, so call suppliers elsewhere from your local line.
Which hours should you offer?
Pick one or two short call windows inside US business hours and write them in Eastern or Pacific time. New York's 9 a.m. to noon falls at about:
Central Europe: 3 to 6 p.m. most of the year.
India: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the US summer, an hour later in the US winter.
Buenos Aires: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the US summer, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the US winter.
Clients on the West Coast are three hours behind New York. US clocks change on the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday in November, according to NIST, and Europe changes on different dates, so for a few weeks each spring and autumn the gap shrinks by an hour. The best time to call US clients has more countries, and the US time-zone clock shows the time in each zone right now.
What should your voicemail say?
Say your name, what you design, your call hours in US time and where reviews and files go. For example:
"You have reached [your name], [interior design / brand and UX design] for clients in the US. I take calls Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern. Leave your name, your company or project and a good time to call, and I will call you back within one working day. For a design review, book a video call at [your link]. Files and feedback go to [your email]."
Messages can be up to 2 minutes, up to 30 a month, kept 30 days. The voicemail guide has setup steps.
Are the minutes enough?
Calls clients and contractors make to you are included up to a fair use of 300 minutes a month. Only calls you place use your 300 minutes to the US and Canada. Each outgoing call is rounded up to the next full minute; unanswered calls are free. Three example months, worked out for a year:
300 min included
Graphic or UX designerabout 174 min, within the plan
Plus quick feedback callsabout 261 min, within the plan
Interiors project with US contractorsabout 325 min: 3 extra packs, +$15 a year
Within the included minutesExtra minutes, $5 per 100

Graphic or UX designer
Calls out to the US and Canada2 discovery calls a week, 20 minutes each: about 174 minutes a month
Extra minutesNone: within the included minutes
One year on the yearly plan$100
Plus quick feedback calls
Calls out to the US and Canadathe same, plus 4 calls a week of 5 minutes: about 261 minutes a month
Extra minutesNone: within the included minutes
One year on the yearly plan$100
Interiors project with US contractors
Calls out to the US and Canada5 calls a week, 15 minutes each: about 325 minutes a month
Extra minutes3 × $5 = $15 a year
One year on the yearly plan$115
Incoming calls do not use your minutes (fair use 300 minutes a month). Each plan includes 300 minutes a month out; extra minutes are $5 per 100, and unused extra minutes carry over to the next month, so the year counts the packs for all 12 months together. Prices before tax.
The first two fit inside the plan. A busy interiors project goes a little over and needs 3 extra packs of 100 minutes across a year. Top-up minutes carry over, so you buy them only as you need them. Reviews on video keep long calls off your minutes. The monthly plan is $12.99 with the same minutes. Try your own numbers in the cost calculator.
What about texts and sign-in codes?
The number receives texts from US and Canadian senders, so a contractor's "running late" text reaches the app. Sending texts is not included, so answer with a call or an email, and write "call or email" on your site, not "call or text".
The number also receives verification codes (OTP SMS) from apps. TripoSIM tested Upwork, Fiverr, LinkedIn, Google, Microsoft, PayPal, Payoneer, Wise and Stripe, so sign-in codes for those accounts can come to it. See a US number for Upwork and Fiverr.
Do you run a studio and a side practice?
The same person can have as many TripoSIM US numbers as they like on one account, each with its own plan, minutes and voicemail greeting. An interior designer who also runs a separate brand-identity studio can give each its own number, so the caller hears the name they found. In a small studio, each designer can have their own number in their own app, and clients reach the person who knows their project.
Each number is still one person's line. It does not ring several people at once or queue callers.
When is another option better?
Clients expect text replies from the number: the TripoSIM number receives texts only. A provider with two-way texting suits you better; see providers compared.
A front desk answers for the whole studio: the number is for personal and small-business use, and call centers are not allowed. Call queues and shared lines need a business phone system built for teams.
Most of your calls are long reviews: use a video tool with screen sharing. This number is a phone line for short calls.
Your clients or suppliers are mostly outside the US and Canada: calls out go to US and Canadian numbers only. Anyone can still call your number.
