Why give US buyers a US number?
On Amazon and eBay, most buyer questions come through the marketplace's own messages. A phone number matters more on your own Shopify store or website, on packaging inserts and invoices, and with wholesale buyers who want to talk before a big order. A +1 number tells a US shopper there is a reachable business behind the store, and they can call it without thinking about international rates.
The TripoSIM US Virtual Number runs in an app on your phone over Wi-Fi or mobile data, from wherever you run the business. Calls ring like a normal call. When you are offline or asleep, callers leave a voicemail.
What do marketplaces need for seller phone verification?
Each marketplace asks for a phone number in its own way. Here is what their help pages and staff posts say, checked on October 28, 2026.

The TripoSIM US number receives verification codes (OTP SMS) from apps, so you can use it for marketplace text codes. TripoSIM tested Amazon in its October 2026 tests. Add an authenticator app wherever the marketplace offers one, as a good second sign-in method. Read how to use a US number for verification codes for setup tips.
How should you publish a support number?
- Pick a recognizable area code. Choose one where many of your buyers are, or a well-known one like New York 212. See the area code list.
- State your hours in a US time zone. Write "Mon–Fri, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. ET" rather than your local time. Use the US time-zone clock to find hours that overlap with your day.
- Record a voicemail greeting. Say your store name, your hours and how fast you call back. Voicemail messages can be up to 2 minutes, up to 30 a month, kept 30 days.
- List it where buyers look. Your store's contact page and footer, order confirmation emails, invoices and packaging inserts. The business contact checklist has the full list.
- Turn on notifications. With notifications and the microphone allowed, calls ring even when the app is closed.
What about texts from customers?
The TripoSIM number receives texts from US and Canadian senders, but sending texts is not included. If a customer texts your support number, you cannot answer from it. Plan around that:
- Say "call or email" on your contact page, not "call or text".
- Put your support email next to the number, so buyers who prefer writing go there.
- Check incoming texts daily and answer by email or a call when the customer gave you their details.
If your customers expect text replies, use a business messaging tool for that and keep the US number for calls and voicemail. Read more on receiving texts on a US number.
Is the call allowance enough for support?
For most small stores, yes. Incoming calls are included up to a fair use of 300 minutes a month. Calling customers back uses your 300 outgoing minutes to the US and Canada; extra minutes cost $5 per 100. Each call is rounded up to the next full minute, and unanswered calls are free. The yearly plan is $100 and the monthly plan $12.99. If your volume is higher, check the cost calculator.
