What should you do before the trip?
Get your number a few days early and share it with your hotel, tour operators, car rental and the people you will meet. US businesses can then call or text you as a local number.
How does it work on the trip?
- Use Wi-Fi where it is good and a travel data eSIM where it is not. The app needs internet for calls.
- Your own SIM can stay in the phone for calls and codes from home.
- Incoming calls have no roaming charges. Outgoing calls to the US and Canada come out of your monthly minutes.
What happens between trips?
The number stays yours while your plan renews, so it works the same on the next trip. If you only travel once, the monthly plan at $12.99 may cost less; if you travel through the year, the yearly plan at $100 includes $5 of credit for eSIM data.
