What happens from checkout to your first call?
Choose a plan and pay
Pick yearly or monthly on TripoSIM. All you need is an email and a payment card. No SSN or US address.
Verify your identity
A short check of about 2 minutes with your passport or ID card and a selfie. TripoSIM says US rules require it for every phone number.
Pick your number and use it
Choose a number by US state or area code. It works in the TripoSIM app on iPhone or Android, over Wi-Fi or mobile data.
What do you need?
- An iPhone or Android phone. On iPhone, add the TripoSIM web app to your Home Screen; on Android, install the TripoSIM app. TripoSIM says calls ring even when the app is closed once notifications and the microphone are allowed; a phone that is off, offline or has notifications blocked does not ring, and callers reach voicemail.
- Internet: Wi-Fi or mobile data. Call quality depends on your connection.
- Notifications and microphone allowed for the app, so calls can ring and people can hear you.
- A free TripoSIM account, an email address and a payment card. No SSN or US address.
- You do not live in, or use the number in, a country under sanctions.
How do calls, texts and voicemail work?
Calls out: 300 minutes a month to US and Canadian numbers, resetting on the day you bought the number. Calls in: included with no roaming charges, fair use 300 minutes a month. Texts: received from US and Canadian senders; sending is not included. Voicemail: messages up to 2 minutes, up to 30 a month, kept 30 days.
Why is it not a carrier line?
A carrier SIM connects to cell towers and can reach 911. This number connects through the internet, which is why it works in almost any country and costs far less than roaming, and also why it cannot call emergency services or send texts today. What happens if your plan ends?
The number is paused and kept for 30 days on the yearly plan or 90 days on the monthly plan. After that it is released and cannot be recovered.
