Payoneer asks for a two-step verification code for secured actions, based on its own risk checks rather than at every sign-in. If you get paid through Payoneer while living abroad, the number those codes go to matters: Payoneer itself notes that most phone plans block or charge for texts in another country. A US number in the TripoSIM app receives them over Wi-Fi or mobile data instead. Every Payoneer step is from Payoneer Help.
How does Payoneer deliver codes?
- Text or phone call to the number set for two-step verification. By default that is the mobile number in your profile, unless you enter another one.
- App approval. With it on, secured actions on the web trigger a notification in the Payoneer app. Text codes still go to your two-step number.
- Timing. A code expires if you do not enter it within a short time.
The TripoSIM US number receives Payoneer’s texts and calls in the TripoSIM app. TripoSIM tested Payoneer on October 3, 2026.
How do you set your US number for Payoneer codes?
Payoneer keeps two numbers apart:
- The code number: profile icon, Settings, Security settings, Two-Step Verification, Edit, enter the new number, Save.
- Your profile phone: profile icon, Settings, Profile Settings, Phone numbers, Edit, Save. Payoneer fills in the country code, so do not type it twice.
They do not have to match. You can keep your home number on your profile and receive codes on the US number.
How do you turn on two-step verification?
Go to Settings, Security Settings, Two-step verification, Turn On, enter the number and the code. Then save the recovery code Payoneer shows: it can replace a verification code when you edit two-step settings.
For app approval: in the Payoneer app, Security settings, Two-step verification, Use mobile app to approve actions. Payoneer notes it works anywhere with internet, which helps when you travel. Where PSD2 rules require two-step verification, it cannot be skipped.
What if you lose access?
- Use your recovery code. If you lost it too, contact Payoneer.
- Lost the two-step number: Payoneer’s help page says to call 1-646-386-2434 to reset it.
- New phone without the old one: tap I didn’t get the notification and approve with a verification code instead.
Keep your TripoSIM plan active so the number stays yours. If a plan ends, the number is kept 30 days on the yearly plan or 90 days on the monthly plan, then released. See number recycling and account security.
What if the code does not arrive?
- Check your connection and that the TripoSIM app is online with notifications allowed, or try again a little later.
- Use Call me to get the code by phone call. It rings in the TripoSIM app.
- Resend sparingly: it works only a limited number of times, and too many wrong codes block the account until you contact Payoneer.
- Still nothing? Contact TripoSIM support about the number.
