A US number for nonprofits with American supporters
US donors, volunteers and partners call a familiar +1 number. You answer in an app, or call back in their hours.
Short answer
Small nonprofits, charities and NGOs outside the US put a US virtual number on their donate and contact pages, so American donors, volunteers and partners can call a familiar +1 number. The TripoSIM number rings in an app, takes voicemail and includes 300 minutes a month of calls to the US and Canada. It receives texts but cannot send them.
Why give US supporters a US number?
A donor in Chicago with a question about a gift, a volunteer in Texas planning a trip, a partner organization in New York setting up a call: each of them may hesitate at an international number. A +1 number is an ordinary call for them. It also shows that a real person stands behind the donate button.
The TripoSIM US Virtual Number runs in an app on your phone over Wi-Fi or mobile data, wherever your team works. You answer like a normal call. When you are in the field or asleep, callers leave a voicemail.
Messages from supporters, played in the app. Real app screen, example number.

Where should the number appear?
Your donate page: near the form, with a line such as "Questions about giving? Call +1 (your number), Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon Eastern."
Your contact and volunteer pages: written as +1 and ten digits, with a tap-to-call link.
Email footers, thank-you emails and event invitations: the same number everywhere, next to your email address.
Say where you are based. "Our team in Beirut answers US calls 9 a.m. to noon Eastern" is honest and clear, and a +1 number does not give you a US office. The business contact checklist has more sample copy.
Which hours should you offer?
Offer a short window inside US working hours that your team can keep. Take a small, hypothetical charity in Beirut with donors on the East Coast. New York's 9 a.m. is 4 p.m. in Beirut for most of the year, so a window of 4 to 7 p.m. Beirut time covers New York's morning. West Coast supporters start work three hours later, at about 7 p.m. in Beirut.
Many supporters will call outside your window. Say who you are, where you are based, when you call back and how to give. For example:
"You have reached [organization name]. We are based in [city] and return calls Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon Eastern. Leave your name, your number and what you are calling about, and we will call you back within two working days. To give, please use the donate page on our website."
Messages can be up to 2 minutes, up to 30 a month, kept 30 days. With notifications and the microphone allowed, TripoSIM says calls ring even when the app is closed. The voicemail guide has setup steps.
Can you call donors back?
Yes, one at a time. Calling back a donor who left a message, a volunteer with a question or a partner you meet every week is personal, small-scale calling, and that is what the number is for. Mass calling is not. Spam, robocalls, autodialers and call centers are not allowed, so do not use the number to call through a donor list or to run a phone appeal.
Calls supporters make to you are included up to a fair use of 300 minutes a month. Only calls you place use your 300 minutes to the US and Canada. Each outgoing call is rounded up to the next full minute; unanswered calls are free. Three typical weeks, worked out for a year:

Incoming calls do not use your minutes (fair use 300 minutes a month). Each plan includes 300 minutes a month out; extra minutes are $5 per 100, and unused extra minutes carry over to the next month, so the year counts the packs for all 12 months together. Prices before tax.
The monthly plan is $12.99 with the same minutes. Try your own numbers in the cost calculator. Calls coming in have their own allowance, so count them separately; do not add the two together.

What about texts?
The number receives texts from US and Canadian senders, so a volunteer's "my flight lands at 6" reaches you in the app. Sending texts is not included, so you cannot answer from the number, and you cannot use it for text updates to supporters. Use email for receipts, newsletters and reminders, and write "call or email" on your pages, not "call or text".
Who holds the number?
Each TripoSIM number is one person's line in their own app, with their own ID check (photo ID and selfie). It does not ring several staff at once. Decide who answers it, usually a coordinator, and what happens to it when that person moves on. Want separate lines, for example one for donors and one for volunteers? The same person can have as many TripoSIM US numbers as they like on one account, each with its own plan, minutes and voicemail.
The number also receives verification codes (OTP SMS) from apps; PayPal, Stripe and Google sent codes in TripoSIM's tests on October 3, 2026. If you put the organization's accounts on the number, keep the plan paid. When a plan ends, the number is kept 30 days on the yearly plan or 90 days on the monthly plan, then released, and it may later be given to someone else. Read what number recycling means.
When is another option better?
Supporters expect text replies from the number: the TripoSIM number receives texts only. A provider with two-way texting suits you better; see providers compared.
Several staff or volunteers answer one line: call queues and ring groups need a business phone system built for teams.
You plan phone appeals or calling campaigns: robocalls, autodialers and call centers are not allowed, and the minutes are sized for call-backs.
Most supporters are outside the US and Canada: calls out go to US and Canadian numbers only. Anyone can still call your number.
Your connection is weak, or internet calling is restricted where you work: calls need Wi-Fi or mobile data. Run the ten-check test first.
