How Facebook delivers codes:TextAuthentication appSecurity keyRecognized device

Facebook confirms new accounts and protects logins with codes, and the phone number on your account is how you get back in when something goes wrong. A US number in the TripoSIM app keeps those codes coming wherever you live. Every Facebook step below is from Facebook Help.

How does Facebook deliver its codes?

  • New accounts. Facebook confirms your mobile number with a code delivered as a text. You may not be able to use the account until the number or email is confirmed.
  • Two-factor login. When you log in from a browser or device Facebook does not recognize, it asks for a code or an approval. Text codes are always 6 digits.
  • Other ways in: a security key, an authentication app, approving from a device Facebook recognizes, or a recovery code.

The TripoSIM US number receives Facebook’s text in the TripoSIM app. TripoSIM tested Facebook on October 3, 2026.

How do you add your US number to Facebook?

Facebook’s path: your profile picture, Settings & privacy, Settings, Accounts Center, Personal details, Contact info, Add new contact, then Add mobile number. Choose which accounts get the number and enter the code that arrives in the TripoSIM app.

Enter the whole number with the +1 country code. Facebook asks you to leave out extra zeros, plus signs or special characters when you log in with a phone number.

Facebook also recommends adding an email, so you can get back in if you lose the phone.

How do you set up two-factor authentication?

  1. Go to Accounts Center, Password and security, Two-factor authentication, and choose the account.
  2. Pick a method: a security key, an authentication app, or Text message (SMS) with a number already on the account or your new US number.
  3. Add a second method. Facebook advises it in case the phone is lost. If text codes are your only method, turning off the phone number also turns off two-factor authentication.
  4. Get your recovery codes: Additional methods, Recovery codes, Get new codes. You get 10, each usable once.

Saving a browser or device means Facebook will not ask for a code there next time.

What if you lose access?

  • Use a recovery code on the code screen.
  • No phone? Look for I don’t have my phone on the code screen, then Contact Us. On a computer, the link is Need another way to authenticate?, Other Options, Get more help.
  • Identity check. Facebook may ask for a government-issued ID, security questions or trusted contacts. Instructions usually arrive within 1 to 2 business days.
  • Keep the number. If your TripoSIM plan ends, the number is kept 30 days on the yearly plan or 90 days on the monthly plan, then released. See number recycling and account security.

What if the code does not arrive?

  1. Wait a few minutes. Facebook says text codes can be delayed.
  2. Resend from the confirmation screen, or fix the number there if you typed it wrong.
  3. Too many requests? Facebook asks you to wait a day before trying again.
  4. Check that texts from Facebook are on in your Facebook settings: missing two-factor codes can mean they were turned off.
  5. Check the TripoSIM app is online with notifications allowed, then contact TripoSIM support if it still does not come.
