- Your +1 numberreceives the text or call
- TripoSIM appshows it on your phone
Discord may ask you to verify a phone number to prove you are not a robot and keep spammers out, and a phone can also back up your two-factor login. A US number in the TripoSIM app gets Discord’s code over Wi-Fi or mobile data wherever you live. Every Discord step below is from Discord Support.
How does Discord deliver its code?
When you add a phone, Discord delivers a text with a 6-digit code. The number cannot already be on another Discord account. The TripoSIM US number receives Discord’s text in the TripoSIM app. TripoSIM tested Discord on October 3, 2026.
For two-factor login, Discord offers security keys or passkeys, an authenticator app, and text codes as a backup.
How do you add your US number to Discord?
- Open User Settings, then My Account.
- Select Add next to Phone Number and choose the United States (+1) country code. Discord says the number must be formatted correctly for its country.
- Select Send, enter the 6-digit code from the TripoSIM app, then your Discord password, and Confirm.
To remove a number later: User Settings, My Account, Remove, then your password. On mobile: your avatar, the cogwheel, Account, the Phone field, Remove Phone Number. A removed number has a waiting period before it can go on an account again.
How do you set up two-factor authentication?
- Start with an authenticator app: on mobile, your avatar, the cogwheel, Account, Enable Authenticator App. It makes a new code every 30 seconds.
- Or a passkey: User Settings, Account, Security Keys, Add.
- Add your US number as a backup only after that: add and verify the phone, press Enable SMS Authentication and enter your MFA code. Discord says a phone as a text backup lowers how secure the account is, and only allows it once an authenticator app is set up.
- Save your backup codes: View Backup Codes in User Settings, My Account. They are 8 digits and each works once.
What if you lose access?
On the login code screen, choose Verify with something else, then Use a backup code, or Use a code sent to your phone if text backup is on. Discord says Support cannot remove MFA from an account, and without backup codes it cannot issue new ones.
Keep the number too. If your TripoSIM plan ends, the number is kept 30 days on the yearly plan or 90 days on the monthly plan, then released. See number recycling and account security.
What if the code does not arrive?
- Check the country code (+1) and the 10 digits.
- Check the TripoSIM app is online with notifications allowed.
- “Rate Limit” or “Recently Used”? The number is in a timeout. Discord asks you to wait 24 to 48 hours before trying again.
- Other phone errors: contact Discord Support. For the number itself, contact TripoSIM support.
For other apps, see which apps send codes to the number or the app check tool.
