How Amazon delivers codes:TextCallWhatsAppEmailAuthenticator app

Amazon checks your sign-in with a passcode when you sign in from a new browser, device or location, which happens often when you live or travel abroad. A US number in the TripoSIM app receives those passcodes wherever you are. Every Amazon step below is from Amazon Help.

How does Amazon deliver passcodes?

  • Sign-in checks. Amazon may deliver a six-digit passcode to the email or mobile number on your account, or ask you to approve the sign-in in an Amazon app.
  • Two-Step Verification. The security code comes by text, call or an authenticator app, and you enter it with your password.
  • Passwordless accounts sign in with a one-time code to the mobile number or email, and the verification page also offers WhatsApp.
  • Timing. A one-time password by email or text is valid for 10 minutes.

The TripoSIM US number receives Amazon’s texts and calls in the TripoSIM app. TripoSIM tested Amazon on October 3, 2026.

Amazon also says it never contacts you first to ask for a password or passcode.

How do you put your US number on Amazon?

Amazon’s path: Your Account, Login & security, then Edit next to your phone number. Enter the US number, follow the steps, then Save Changes and Done.

If your account was created with a mobile number, sign in with that number including its country code: +1 for the US number.

How do you turn on Two-Step Verification?

Go to Your Account, Login & security, select Edit next to Two-Step Verification (2SV) Settings, then Get Started. Choose text, call or an authenticator app. With 2SV on, you sign in with your password and the code.

If you are not asked for a code, Amazon’s Alternate Sign-in lets you add the code to the end of your password. Devices cannot be saved as trusted that way.

What if you lose access?

  1. Try a backup method or a trusted device first.
  2. Recover 2SV. On the code screen, choose Didn’t Receive the Code, then Two-Step Verification Account Recovery. Amazon will not change 2SV settings until it verifies your identity.
  3. No email, phone or device left? Contact Amazon Customer Service.
  4. After losing a device, update your password, mobile number, email and 2SV number from another device.

Keep your TripoSIM plan active so the number stays yours. If a plan ends, the number is kept 30 days on the yearly plan or 90 days on the monthly plan, then released. See number recycling and account security.

What if the passcode does not arrive?

  1. Check the number in Login & security.
  2. Choose Resend OTP or Resend Code on the verification page.
  3. Check the TripoSIM app is online with notifications allowed. Use the call option if Amazon offers it: it rings in the TripoSIM app.
  4. Still nothing? Contact TripoSIM support about the number.
